Databricks Appoints Public Sector Leader to Meet Demand for Unified Analytics

Kevin Davis to expand customer base within the industry, including
Government agencies, in reaction to need for more secure, cloud-based
data analytics

the leader in Unified Analytics and founded by the original creators of
Apache Spark™, today announced the key addition of Kevin Davis as vice
president of Public Sector to meet the demand for Databricks’ Unified
Analytics Platform. In the past year alone, Databricks saw its federal
customer base grow exponentially due to agencies migrating huge amounts
of sensitive data to the cloud.

In his new role, Davis will be responsible for further expanding
strategic alliances and scaling the company’s customer base within the
public sector. Davis has more than 25 years of sales and management
experience across public sector. Most recently, he held a similar
position at Splunk, where he helped create the company’s first Public
Sector team, which he led for four years, driving, on average, 40
percent year-over-year growth. Prior to Splunk, Davis spent nine years
at Oracle as area vice president where he ran the Department of Defense
(DoD) Technology Sales business unit.

“Kevin will play a critical role in driving further growth with
government agencies – a market that is ripe for transformation. Big data
analytics is quickly impacting the sector – it is key to improving
public services and cybersecurity measures,” said Ali Ghodsi, co-founder
and CEO of Databricks. “Kevin’s vast experience, combined with our
Unified Analytics Platform, will further enable firms within the public
sector to overcome innate challenges that exist with data silos and
compliance mandates, and simplify the data science process along the

Davis will be focused on making government agencies successful with
Artificial Intelligence (AI) by combining data and machine learning
silos in one unified platform. A key component in Databricks’ Unified
Analytics Platform, Databricks
, enables organizations and agencies to blend real-time
streaming and batch data reliably and at massive scale. By leveraging
large amounts of reliable data, agencies are better positioned to
improve public services, including improved disaster recovery, city
planning, transportation and more.

“Databricks is a true leader in the data analytics, artificial
intelligence and machine learning spaces. This rapidly growing team has
huge potential, and I’m thrilled to be joining at both such an exciting
stage in the company’s evolution as well as a pivotal period for the
industry,” Davis said. “The strides made by Databricks within the public
sector and the rate at which federal agencies are moving to the cloud
are monumental. The mission of the government has always been to ensure
security for the people, and I look forward to helping them achieve that
mission with Databricks’ Unified Analytics Platform.”

Databricks will host a ½ day workshop that uncovers the challenges of
big data and best practices in the cloud to simplify and scale data
analytics efforts. Learn more information about the “Federal
Data + ML Technical Seminar
