Gift Gives Chance for Ivy Tech Grad to Pursue Passion

Through collaboration and hard work, a group of Ivy Tech students and staff helped provide one of their fellow classmates the chance at a career in the automotive industry. Over the course of 8 months, automotive, robotics and welding students built a one-of-a-kind stand up wheelchair that has allowed Austin Frazier, a fellow student and recent graduate of Ivy Tech, to work in the service department at Kenny Kent Toyota.

"(before this) ... when they said they're going to make this chair for you, i was like a deer in the headlights when they started building it." "(that's it) that's it. i've found that if you have the ability to do something to help somebody else go ahead and do it. you're going to help yourself in the long run." walker was able to recognize austin's challenges "(everybody) everybody has to overcome something." -- because he too has had his own. "(i was) i was in a motorcycle wreck about 16 years ago. being in a wheelchair, i realized that i was very limited in a few things.""(for me) for me, after the wreck and everything like that and i got back together, i realized that it's not all about money." it's about the experienceand the realization that there's more to life -- than yourself.
