http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12499/7423978?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Wed, 10 Oct 2018 11:05:39 +0000 DOT: Rain pushes back completion date of beltline maintenance Mother Nature has been throwing a lot of curve balls at us this year, and it's affecting construction work on the beltline, but the DOT tells News 3 workers aren't actually that far behind. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12499/7423978?cpt=8&wpid=2637 WISC the good news is overnight work on the beltline wasn't delayed too much by this summer's wet weather. the bad news is we need more than a week of dry weather to make sure it stays that way. josh spreiter is live along the beltline... where the d-o-t has worked for months to get things ready for winter driving. good morning. the d-o-t tells me we just need 8 more dry nights for them to get the job done. you can see behind me - all lanes and ramps are now open for the morning commute. crews removed the cones by 6. you've probably noticed the overnight closures since june. construction crews have been working between the hours of 7 p-m and 6 a-m. they've been making pavement repairs in both directions - while removing and replacing some of the concrete that has deteorated due to use over time... and of course the extreme weather conditions we experience throughout the year. a spokesperson for the d-o-t tells me contractors did a good job keeping on schedule for most of the season - even with the wetter than normal conditions. again - the construction work on the beltline is expected to wrap up soon. they expect to have everything back to normal along here within the next two to three weeks. we'll have more on the future projects you can expect on the beltline just after 6:30. thanks josh.
